Inay Ko Po: Aubrey Miles & E-skwela

Monday, 31 August 2020

Despite the limited space in our home in the city, the kids and I decided to be more active in the garden recently when a miracle money plant grew in our plant box in the terrace out of nowhere.  It was a sign from the heavens. I don't have a black thumb despite my history of overwatering succulents. Something beautiful could grow out of dirt despite the sorrow of all the plants that died on me in the past.  It's therapeutic to see my plant dance in the window every morning while the birds chirp their song. I don't even know the type of birds we have here in our community but I'm amazed because they're even better than the birds that sing on Youtube!

We had the pleasure of having Aubrey Miles in our show this morning and she denies the existence of the curse of having a "black thumb."

Aubrey notes, no matter how expensive, rare or clean your plants are, if you don't research before hand on how to care for them and you don't follow through, chances are your plants will die on you especially if you put them indoors.  She adds, "just because they're indoor plants doesn't automatically mean they don't need sunlight.  Some of them do so you have to put them near a window with lots of sunshine. Or under special lights."  She warns people of overcaring for plants or over exposing them to the air conditioner.  "Some plants prefer to be left alone like in a desert."
She showed us some of her plants that were imported from Japan.  They made her home look like a high-end resort.  They also made her workout space more enticing.  Its overall air quality help make their skin healthy and supple.

We also interviewed Atty Barry from the OVP Leni Robredo.  They launched Bayanihan E-skwela offering tips in the vernacular for teachers, parents, and students to help ease them into the new normal.

It's cool that they launched something like this in Filipino (in awesome HD quality with nice editing!) with the help of volunteers and awesome TV personalities (like Enchong Dee).  My 4-year-old daughter is slowly learning more words in Filipino & Spanish (because we share a lot of similar words with our former colonizer) with the help of videos like this!  Slowly but surely, I'm so happy I voted for VP Leni :)
We're all in this together, may the spirit of bayanihan prosper!
